[Now Watching| Deadwood v1.4]

The long awaited mod that takes The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and updates the graphics with hi-res textures is finally out. Of course, you will need a ROM of the game and a compatible emulator to run it…but it’s worth it! This shouldn’t be missed. Check out the later pages on the forum thread to see some glorious screenshots.
Iwata mentioned something about old games getting a face lift when they become available on the Revolution download service…let’s hope that something like this is in store for us.

Weird… I dunno, I kinda like the real thing better
Pikachelsea - 11.13.05 2:52 am
Awesome, I guess I’m gonna play OOT for the 23987569th time , Nintendo should really concider releaseing OOT again with better graphics , I would buy it and I’m sure that evryone will !!!!
MAcRAmaN - 11.13.05 3:13 am
ive got the one for 64. ts good and hard
Rebellion of Monkeys - 11.13.05 5:21 am
I feel stupid.
BladeofKeyZ - 11.13.05 6:06 am
Macraman: They already re-released Ocarina of Time on GameCube twice — once on the 4-game Collector’s Edition, and again on the 2-game Ocarina of Time/Master Quest disc. A third re-release would be pushing it, methinks
Pikachelsea - 11.13.05 6:47 am
I was wondering if this was going to get an article here and sure enough
Ive been following this for a couple months and the work djipi put into retexturing the entire game is truely amazing, hes a very talented artist and since everything he did is completely legal he could even talk to nintendo about having these textures for use on the revolution rendition of oot.
Ive been playing through oot allover again just because of how much better it looks.. it really makes me wish twilight princess was celshaded link windwaker too >_>
TakaM - 11.13.05 8:12 am
btw the picture for this article really doesnt do it justice

>_>
TakaM - 11.13.05 8:39 am
Looks good, but a little TOO hi-res for me. I play in on my GC - collector’s edition disc - with component cables and it looks awesome. Just wish they’d 60 fps’d the sucker.
Rumas - 11.13.05 10:00 am
…which is why I’m so pumped that Nintendo announced they’ll be upping the frame rates of N64 games on Rev
Rumas - 11.13.05 10:01 am
I’m 100% against graphical updates.
Now, better framerate is always welcome.
[MaSQuE] - 11.13.05 12:18 pm
Can anyone post instructions for how to get the mod to work once it has been downloaded? I don’t really see any patch files or exe’s or anything like that… any help?
Greg - 11.13.05 12:43 pm
I don’t believe Ocarina of Time ever had framerate slowdowns… Only Majora’s Mask.
Dejital - 11.13.05 12:44 pm
And the screenshot for the article isn’t even of the right mod, or rather of the oldest version.
Dejital - 11.13.05 12:45 pm
This almost looks like a completely different game. AWWWWWWW. I guess that hange can be good.
Innovation - 11.13.05 12:57 pm
yeah how do you get this thing to work?
fsadkjfh - 11.13.05 1:19 pm
Where’s me damn cel-shaded OoT?
TheOneGuy - 11.13.05 1:25 pm
It never had *slowdowns*, but the framerate was pretty low. I don’t think it even reached 30 fps.
Volt - 11.13.05 1:39 pm
Pikachelsea, What I meant is a complete graphics enhancement, kinda like Zelda TP with the original OOT stroyline and gameplay , the collector edition and masterquest have the same N64 graphics .
MAcRAmaN - 11.13.05 1:40 pm
Any recommendations which emulator to use?
Sagan - 11.13.05 3:51 pm
Best I can tell, Project64 is the emulator of choice. It looks like you also need Ricevideo beta10 to make this thing work - you also need to put the files in your plugin folder of your emulator. Furthermore, it looks like this may have been built specifically for the PAL version of the rom (NTSC may be out of luck). I still haven’t gotten it to work… : (
Greg - 11.13.05 3:59 pm
Well, Rice’s plugin and Djipi’s cel-Zelda mod were both designed for 1964. It will also work with Project64, but should be faulty at times. (NTSC works for me, perfectly, by the way).
Dejital - 11.13.05 4:03 pm
n64 vs hires by me:

theONE - 11.13.05 5:03 pm
I think it’s commendable work. I’m always into texture packs, although mostly for PC games… the Deus Ex 2 and Duke Nukem 3D ones were great.
I wish the Sin and Punishment one on that site was further along.
Tony - 11.13.05 5:38 pm
This is the best game ever made!
Joe - 11.13.05 7:43 pm
These kinds of things are pretty cool, but not neccesarily good for gameplay. Take the original DOOM games for example, all flat sprites, jDOOM has packages that replace the sprites with 3d models, but because of the cheapness, many choose either between 3d, or not 3d. Sometimes original is better, sometimes not. Judging from the screenshot, It looks like there is a lot of things i owuld like about the hi-res textures, but some I would like to leave as-is.
kcghost - 11.13.05 7:52 pm
using IE, it asked for a password,
using firefox, it says too many users.

Daedalus - 11.13.05 8:40 pm
lead, say you made a piece of art (I know its not likely but lets just pretend thats possible some day) would you like people coming in a few years and redrawing on top not even accurately of it and claiming its an improvement.
dust - 11.13.05 9:01 pm
yeah ok this is nice, it’s been dugg so now all the links are dead, any info or guides on how to install ? Yes we know you need a ROM and stuff but then what?
HELP!
bob - 11.13.05 9:03 pm
^^yeah i have 1964 + a working rom but i can’t get the rice plugin since most of the links arent working. a how-to guide is much needed! thx
jack - 11.13.05 9:05 pm
dust, its a tribute to windwaker, its combing two of nintendos best pieces of art.
djipi wasnt aiming to make it in his own style, but in nintendo’s very own windwaker. you really should be more appreciative. he did something development teams do and he did it very very well.
TakaM - 11.13.05 9:19 pm
Wow, great job, makes me feel cool that people still play the old games of yesteryear =)
Ejix - 11.13.05 9:42 pm
I honestly can’t believe that someone is complaining about the “ethics” of a texture pack for a game lol. The guy did it in his spare time for fun and is sharing the results… I don’t see how this somehow tarnishes the original. No one is being forced to use it.
Tony - 11.13.05 10:00 pm
instructions about how to installthe package is found here:

Simon - 11.13.05 10:53 pm
this is kinda pointless but…i find it really funny how it says “FTP Download LINK”
Ghost{former renegadeghost} - 11.13.05 11:38 pm

miscblogger - 11.14.05 12:41 am
nintendo needs to release oot for DS
logan - 11.14.05 2:01 am
I completely agree ,OOT is the best game ever made ,it will be so awesome to have it on the DS but we gonna have a brand new Zelda DS and that’s even better !
MaCrAmaN - 11.14.05 12:46 pm
Dejital lives.
Nice find. I’m enjoying this lil’ eye candy.
The Ocarina - 11.14.05 7:02 pm
I put the rice plugin dlls in the plugins directory and when I try to select it in P64, it just complains that it can’t load the rice plugin and it can’t find bmglib.dll. What?
GT - 11.14.05 9:04 pm
The plugin should have come with 3 .dll files, two of them go in the /plugins/ directory, the other one (BMGlib.dll) goes into the root directory for PJ64.
The Amaranth - 11.14.05 11:24 pm
Nevermind, I had to go download like four dll files online (safe, huh?) because somebody forgot to package them with their emulator or plugin. Very considerate.
Now I’ve got D:\games\p64\plugin\hires_texture\The Legend Of Zelda…..and it doesn’t work. Same old textures as before. Rice 6.1.1 Beta 10. No workie.
GT - 11.14.05 11:31 pm
Nope, the plugin only came with two files. RiceVideo.dll and RiceVideoDebug.dll or something.
GT - 11.14.05 11:31 pm
really hard to get to work
Ray - 11.15.05 8:10 pm

klitz - 11.17.05 5:21 am
